I'd say nice shot
I dont want to be dramatic but this relates to how i feel
so, I've always loved this song because it obviously embraces
and supports the idea of a person having the guts to stand up
for what they know is right even if it means taking they're own
life. It wasn't written for Kurt Cobain it was about that guy
Budd Dywer who shot himself on camera, because he was wrongfully
accused of basically stealing/embesseling a crapload of money
hundreds of thousands of dollars,
like a corporate greed type thing, but it was actually other people
that did it and he just got screwed over and took the heat for it
(from what I understand, do ur own research) he was innocent!
and he was about to be put in prison for 55 years and charged
some outrageous fine. So he shot himself to defy it all.
I guess some would say well having more guts would be to just go to prison
and try an survive and prove them wrong later but sense we live in the great AMERICA where the judicial system is FUCKED!!!
I got to hand it to him....
-- The song became notorious, as it was believed to be honoring the January 22, 1987, public suicide of Pennsylvania state treasurer Budd Dwyer, who shot himself during a press conference with a .357 magnum. A May 1996 interview with Filter in Addicted to Noise magazine and an official statement by the band confirmed this. Filter later gave the following statement:
The song 'Hey Man Nice Shot' is a reaction to a well-documented public suicide. It is not a celebration or glorification of taking one's own life. The phrase 'hey man, nice shot' is a reference to the final act itself, an expression of guts and determination of a person standing up for what they believe is right. We are extremely sensitive and respectful to the family and friends of Mr. Dwyer. We have both lost friends to suicide and felt nothing but sympathy and loss for the victims, and those involved in such a tragedy.

I've always loved this song. I did think it was about Kurt Cobain though. The timing of the release was interesting. I totally agree. There's nothing wrong with suicide if that's what you truly want to do. Some of the people of this world try to have it both ways: they're brutally harsh to some people, yet they try to make those same people afraid of suicide. Yes, suicide sucks for everyone who is left behind, but stop being so freaking selfish people. If the person was suffering so much in this world that they wanted to go somewhere else, give them a break and let them be. If you have to hold onto something about them, focus on the good stuff. Anyway, it's always suicide. If you realize the truth that we all create every moment of our lives, then you understand that death is always suicide. Am I saying things that are contrary to popular belief without explaining myself? Yes.
